Hi, I'm Shawn, and I've been a ballroom dance teacher for nearly 20 years. I specialize in teaching American Smooth, but I also enjoy teaching other dance styles like Latin and country dancing. What inspired me to become a ballroom dance teacher was witnessing how dance can transform people's lives on multiple levels - emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I've competed in numerous ballroom dance competitions with my students and have been fortunate to win several top teacher and studio awards.

What I love most about teaching ballroom dance is seeing people achieve what they thought was impossible and helping them connect with their bodies and the music. My teaching philosophy revolves around building strong muscle memory so that dancing feels natural, allowing the mind to focus on the performance aspect. I enjoy working with students of all skill levels, but beginners hold a special place in my heart. I find joy in breaking down concepts for them and watching them grasp the essence of dance.

One of the most memorable experiences in my career was creating a charity event called Dancing with Dignity, where we taught healthcare professionals how to dance to raise money for stroke survivors. Witnessing the impact of dance on their physical limitations was incredibly moving, and it reinforced my belief in the power of dance as a healing art.

To stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the ballroom dance world, I consistently work with coaches from different parts of the country to enhance my skills and teaching techniques. My dedication to continuous improvement ensures that I can provide effective and enjoyable dance lessons to my students.
